No legal entity has been registered for Hopcheck yet. These terms are a draft. Before they can bind anyone, the operator must register a legal entity and supply its name, a postal address, and a governing jurisdiction. Until then, Hopcheck is provided on the "as-is" basis described below, and no liability can attach to an entity that does not yet exist.

What Hopcheck is

Hopcheck is a tool that follows the redirect chain of a URL you provide, one hop at a time, and reports each hop. It checks only the URL you type. It does not crawl websites, scan domains, or follow links found on the final page.

Accounts and data

Hopcheck has no accounts and stores no data. There is nothing to sign in to, nothing saved, and nothing to delete. Hopcheck does not collect email addresses and does not send email.

Limits

Redirect chains are capped at 10 hops. A chain that reaches the cap is reported as capped, not as ended.
Each individual hop may time out after 10 seconds. A time-out is reported as a check that did not complete, at the hop where it stopped.
Hopcheck follows HTTP redirects (301, 302, 303, 307, 308). It does not detect meta-refresh redirects inside page HTML.

Billing

Hopcheck offers two tiers:

Free — available today at no charge. No payment information is needed. All features described in the Free tier are included without time limit.
Pro — planned at USD $9 per month. It is not yet available and cannot be purchased. When it ships, the Pro tier will require a valid payment method.

No payment processor is connected to Hopcheck today. Nothing on this site can charge you. The checkout form on the Pricing page is a demo only — it accepts no input, stores nothing, and submits nowhere.

When a payment processor (Stripe) is connected and the Pro tier is available:

Subscription will be billed monthly in advance. The first charge occurs at sign-up; subsequent charges recur on the same calendar day each month.
If a payment fails, Stripe retries the charge automatically up to three times over approximately five days. After the final failed attempt, access to Pro features will be suspended until a valid payment method is provided. No further charges are attempted until the account resumes.
Refunds: a full refund is available within 14 days of the initial subscription charge, provided the refund is requested through the payment processor. Partial-month refunds are not issued after the 14-day window.
Downgrading from Pro to Free takes effect at the end of the current billing period. No prorated refund is given for the remainder of a paid month beyond the 14-day window described above.

These billing terms will take effect only when the payment processor is connected and the Pro tier officially ships. Until then, no billing relationship exists between Hopcheck and any user.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use Hopcheck to probe, scan, or otherwise test systems you are not authorised to test, or to use it in any way that violates applicable law.

Result accuracy

A redirect chain is a snapshot at a moment in time. Servers can answer differently for different requests, at different times, or from different locations. A result reflects what the trace observed, not a guarantee about how the URL behaves for every visitor. If a hop fails to connect or times out, that is a failure of the check, not a finding about the link you submitted.

No warranty

Hopcheck is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, no liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of the service.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated. The "Last updated" date above changes when they are. When a legal entity is registered, these terms will be rewritten to name it and its jurisdiction.
